Forms Handler General Tab

Select the form fields, set lablels, and style

Script Settings:

The Script Settings input area will show you the processing language that is being used if you are running NetObjects Fusion 11. If you are running an older version you will set the processing language from this tab. If your form does not process you can check the Publish scripts in debug mode (default is unchecked, leave it unchecked if your form functions to cut down on the code produced) to display a more helpful error message when the form is processed. The Forms Handler can output code in English or German and you select your language from the drop down box

Database Settings:

The Database Settings input area is where you tell the script where to upload and into what database to place the information collected in the form. Most of the time you will be processing the form directly to email so you would leave the Write to database check box unchecked.

If you choose to save form information to a database you will need to run both the database and upload wizards to create the necessary folders and databases.

E-mail Settings:

Important: The email address used in the component must be located on the server sending the mail. Use an email address on the domain the form is is being sent from.

The E-Mail Settings input area is the most important as it is where you tell the Forms Handler component where you want the email sent and the requirements of your mail server. If you are a gotHosting customer with a Windows hosting plan you would enter 72.18.155.74 into the Server (IP) Address input box as that is the IP address of our Windows hosting email server. If you are a gotHosting customer with a Red Hat Linux hosting plan you would enter 127.0.0.1 into the Server (IP) Address input box. Port 25 is the outgoing mail port address for all of our mail servers.

If you do not have your web hosting with us, contact your web host and ask them what the IP address of their mail server is and use that.

Enter in your email address in both the E-mail and From input boxes. If you are a gotHosting customer you will need to check smtp requires authentication as our mail server requires all email sent through it to be authenticated. If you are a gotHosting customer you must enter the full email you are sending the form information from into the Username field. Enter your email address password into the Password field. If you are a gotHosting customer leave SMTP requires SSL unchecked.

Important: If you use a web host besides gotHosting/gotFusion, contact your web host to get the settings you will need for your form to work with them.

Save Profile:

If you think you will reuse this form format again you can press the Save Profile button. Then next time you need a form, the settings from this set up will be available from the drop down box when you start a new Forms Handler page. Once you select an existing profile you can modify it as you wish and save the modified profile again under another name.

Enable Forms Handler Component In Publish View

If you have elected to use the database upload feature of the forms handler component you will need to enable the post publish Formshandler component

Select the Publish Components option from the menu

Click on the Publish View icon to go into Publish View. From the menu bar select Publish then from the drop down select Publish Components

This will bring up the Fusion post publish component list. These are components that require additional processing in order to function

Place a check in the one named NOF Forms Handler only if you are using the upload feature

Select the NOF Forms Handler Component

Important: The code generated by the Fusion Forms Handler component requires that it be run on a web server with the proper dynamic language installed (ASP or PHP). You must upload the pages to a web host in order to test and use these pages. They will not display on your home computer unless you have a web server and the dynamic languages installed and running.
