Important: Before you alter any settings back up the \Fusion 7\Templates\Auto Sites\ folder and files

Please use the NEXT and BACK buttons at the bottom of each page to read all four pages of this tutorial before you start to edit these files.

Background:

Every time you create a New > Blank site or do a File > or create a New Site... > From Template.. in NetObjects Fusion the site settings that are applied to this function are controlled by one of two ZIP files which are located  in the Fusion Auto Sites folder.  One file is called blank site.zip the other file is called import.zip

These files are located in:

C:\NetObjects Fusion 7\Templates\Import\import.zip

C:\NetObjects Fusion 7\Templates\Blank Site\blank site.zip

The default settings in this two files will be applied to ANY and ALL new sites you create or any site that is imported. 

The default settings for these two control files are as follows:

General Tab:

  • Default > Browser Compatibility = NN4 and IE 4
  • Default > HTML Generation = Dynamic Page Layout
  • Default > Text formatting = HTML
  • Default > Page Size width = 770 height = 570
  • Default > Character set = Western European (ISO 8859-1)
  • Default > Quote type = Curly Quotes
  • Default > Site Style (Fusion 7 = Teal & Gray, MX = A La Carte Blue-Yellow,  5.0 = Abington)
  • Default > HTML Options > General Tab > Formatting > Indentation > Spaces = 4
  • Default > HTML Options > General Tab > Other Options > Include Generator Meta Tag = ON
  • Default > HTML Options > General Tab > Other Options > Word wrap (7 and MX = unchecked 5.0 = checked - 250)
  • Default > HTML Options > General Tab > Other Options > Letter casing > HTML tags = Upper Case attributes = Upper Case

Backup Tab:

  • Default > HTML Options > Backup Tab > Automatic backup = checked
  • Default > HTML Options > Backup Tab > Backup location = C:\Netobjects Fusion 7\User Sites\site_name\Backup\
  • Default > HTML Options > Backup Tab > File naming conventions = My Web site Backup1.nod
  • Default > HTML Options > Backup Tab > Maximum number of backups stored (Version 7 = 4,  MX = 4, 5.0 = 2)

Publish Settings:

  • Default > Local Publish location = drive:\Netobjects Fusion 7\User Sites\Local Publish\site_name
  • Default > Arrange Files = By Asset Type
  • Default > Post publish components = None enabled

AGAIN: Make backup copies of both of these files before making any changes.....

You can enter any global Meta tags in the MasterBorder <head> as well as any other items that you add to every site you create so that when you start a new site all of this will already be entered
